ABSTRACT


Background : Bacillus is cosmopolite heterotrophic organisms that able to grow in high density
and has a high economic value, because of its ability to produce antibiotic as its secondary
metabolites. Exploration of antimicrobe producer Bacillus is primary important thing to be
observed in order to supply antibiotic as raw drug material. For that reason, the research entitle
"Assay of Antibiose Activity of Bacillus lrorn Karimunjawa island Soil Habitats on
Staphylococcus aureus. Eschericia coli and Candida albicans
Objective:The aim of this research was to know (1) Kinds of Bacillus that able to produce
antimicrobes (2) Influence of antimicrobial crude extract on growth of microbial pathogenic test
(3) To know most effective of antimicrobial crude extract concentration inhibits on patogen
growth.
Method: The research used descriptive comparative and experimental methods. Descriptive
comparative used for isolation and identification of Bacillus. Experimental method used to cross
streak and inhibition effect of antimicrobial crude extract concentration on growth of microbial
pathogenic test. A Completely Randomised Design (CRD) used as basic design in factorial
pattern. The treatments were antimicrobial crude extract ( C) with 6 levels namely ; CO = 0
ug/ml, CI - 75 jag/ml, C2 = 150 jrc/nil C3 = 225 [ig/'ml dan C4 = 300 C5 = 375 pg/ml; and
microbial pathogenic test with 3 kinds namely : Staphylococcus aureus, Eschericia coli dan
Candida albicans.
Result : The research found 14 isolates and only 3 isolates wich able to produce antimicrobes.
Isolate KJ2 was the most potential to produce antimicrobe substance on cross streak test. The
testing of inhibition effect of antimicrobial crude extract concentration, higher concentration
cause higher growth inhibition on pathogen growth.
